Abstract. Airport capacity. The number of passengers in air traffic is expected to double in the next twenty years, increasing air traffic and raising questions about the adequacy of Italian airports to cope with it, also considering environmental-related issues. Sharing concrete short and long-term strategies may allow our country to address the growing demand for air connectivity, without restrictions for the possible saturation of airport capacity. This will address the need for modernization of airport infrastructures and will allow to make timely evaluations of risk assessment and take operational measures connected with the use of new technologies.
